Day One, following last month, also delayed payment of Carrot team salaries this month

Day One Sports, the operator of professional basketball Goyang Carrot, failed to pay the team’s salaries on time this month following last month.

An official from Day One Sports said on the 7th, “The 5th of every month is the pay day, but with the consent of the players, we decided to pay it on the 10th this month.”

The salaries of not only the coaching staff and players, but also the secretariat staff and support staff have all been delayed.

Last month, Carrot also failed to pay his salary on the 5th, the scheduled date, and promised to pay by the 13th after seeking understanding.

The official said, “It is true that there is a limit to basketball team support as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering & Construction, which pays operating funds, enters court management.” “We are trying to finish this season as well as possible.”

Carrot is a club founded by taking over the Goyang Orion professional basketball team after the 2021-2022 season.

The club is operated by Day One Sports, a corporation whose parent company is Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering & 메이저놀이터Construction. The name of the club became Carrot when Day One Sports attracted Carrot Insurance as a naming sponsor.

‘Basketball President’ Heo Jae, former national team coach, is co-CEO.

This isn’t the first time Carrot has had trouble with the club’s management.

In June of last year, approval was withheld once due to insufficiency of materials such as funds, sponsors, and operation plans submitted in the examination of new member companies.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Chairman Kim Yong-bin voluntarily resigned as chairman of the Korea Curling Federation and director of the Korea Sports Association, citing deterioration in management.

Concerns are growing as payroll delays continue in the middle of the season.

Carrot must also pay the remaining subscription fee of 1 billion won by the 31st of next month.

A KBL official said, “We are closely monitoring the current situation.”
